You value honor and equality. You are courageous and logical. While you may be passionate at times, you rarely let your emotion affect your decisions. You are (according to legend) probably the greatest monarch of all time.
We went to the St. Louis Renaissance Faire on it's last weekend of the
season. It was pretty hot, but at least we missed the floods they had a
few weeks prior.
This was our second time to attend this faire and we had just as much
fun as the first time (even though everyone was baking). It was also
our oldest son's birthday, and the Limeybirds took care of him! Just
love those girls. Great singers & fun to watch.
The Limeybirds are probably one of our favorite acts. They put on a
good show, and you never know what might happen! Even though Charity
took a knock on the noggin' Saturday, the Limeybirds carried on.
Thankfully she is ok and we look forward to seeing her again in
Louisiana. Some of the nicest girls you'll ever meet. Good sense of
humor and very entertaining. Highly recommended.
Finally got to see the Musical Blades for the first time after
listening to their music on the Renaissance Festival Podcast &
Bilgemunky Radio for a while now. Great show. If you get a chance to
see them, it is well worth it. I was going to get their CD, but they
had sold out! They made the announcement that if anyone wanted to order
their CD's from their website, they would not have a shipping charge!
How great is that?
3 Pints Gone put on a great show, as usual. They really do justice to
Barrett's Privateers and A Sailor's Prayer. Wonderful harmonies. We are
looking forward to seeing them in September at the Pirate Festival.
Wish we could see them perform more often, but distance keeps that from
happening.
The Pirate Shantyman & Bonny Lass put on a lively show that even
the kids really like. Who doesn't like a pirate? Funny and
entertaining, what more do you need. The Bonny Lass kept having
problems getting the Shantyman to the stage to start the show, so she
got all the kids in the audiance to chase him down and bring him to the
stage. Great fun.
There was much more, Jamison the Juggler, The Sword Swallowers, Robin
Hood & Maid Marion, Chuvani Bellydancers, and things for the kids
to do in the Kids Kingdom. If you get the chance to attend the St.
Louis Renaissance Faire, it will be well worth your time.
Well,
we attended the Tennessee Renaissance Festival over the Memorial Day
weekend. This was our first time there and it was really nice. The cast
were really friendly and did a good job. The site is on the side of a
hill, so there is a lot walking up and down (there's an arobic workout
for you). There was something for everyone. From magic to jousting to
music to knife throwing & fire eating. You can tour Castle Gwynn,
which is located near the festival grounds (yes, this is someone's
home). It is interesting to see.
The only down side was on
Monday when it started pouring down rain. We took shelter on a small
stage with Craig of Farrington for about 45 minutes. We got to learn a
bit about his history as a performer. Really interesting.
Some friends came up from Louisiana and it was nice getting to see them there. We also made new friends (what it's all about).
We are planning on going back next year and hope to see even more (hopefully without the rain).
Pictures are up. Take a look and make some comments.
Every pirate lives for something different. For some, it's the open sea. For others (the masochists), it's the food. For you, it's definitely the fighting. Even though you're not always the traditional swaggering gallant, your steadiness and planning make you a fine, reliable pirate. Arr!

This is a wonderful new compilation CD from Marc Gunn at the
Renaissance Festival Podcast. Things get started with the hard-hitting
Bedlam Boys by the Bedlam Bards followed by Bramblebush with the
fast-paced Mary Mac. You have the wonderful harmonies of Bounding Main
on High Barbaree to help satisfy that pirate in all of us. New
recording artist Thyme Awaye does a great job with Highland Harry. For
those that like the hammered dulcimer, Cantiga by Vince Conaway is a
must.
From the humorours Pudding Song, to the soulful Nancy,
there is something in this collection for anyone that is a fan of the
music heard at Renaissance Festivals.
Check it out at http://www.celticmusic.org/2007/12/renaissance-festival-podcast.shtml. You will not be disappointed.
